Eplény is a settlement that lies on the borderline between the Zirc Basin and the Veszprém Upland. This peaceful natural environment provides an excellent place for recreation and the exploration of the wonders of the Bakony Hills. You can take a tour on the designated hiking trails or you can roam the area by bicycle. The forests can boast of a rich fauna, including deer, roe-deer, wild boar and moufflon. In autumn, hunting tours are organised here. You can learn about this colourful fauna and flora if you take the educational path in the Mt. Ámos Recreational Forest. You can have some romantic moments along the brook in the Malom Valley, while having a picnic or a barbecue with your friends or you can put your skills to the test on the forest sports field. You can enjoy winter sports on the sledge and ski tracks on Mt. Ámos. You can choose from 16 different ski and sledge courses, one of which, with its length of 1,927 m, is the longest such course in the country. If you like extreme sports, you can also try snowboarding. After the snow has melt, the tracks turn into a bikers’ paradise: you can ride on tracks of various difficulty levels.
