Csehbánya is located in the High Bakony region, surrounded by wonderful forests. Its beech, pine, hornbeam and Turkey oak forests hide a number of rare plant and animal species. Its clean air is cure for those suffering from respiratory problems. What is curious about this place is that the settlement had its own glass-works in the 18th century, where round, white and green window glass, glasses and bottles were manufactured. Local residents are still engaged in handicraft, however, they do not focus on glass any more: those dealing with old crafts and trades make beautiful crochet-work, embroidered table cloths, corn husk bags, pastry-brushes and wicker baskets. There is an old legend in the village: the legend has it that once a forester got lost in the forest and prayed to God for help. Not much later he caught sight of some fire nearby and thought he could get warmed up by the fire and find his way out. As a token of his gratitude, the forester had an image of the Virgin Mary carved into the tree next to the fire. Later, also a chapel was built next to it. A lot of people come here for a pilgrimage during the church-ale in September.
