Town Museum

This small town at the south-western tip of the Bakony-Balaton Region, near Lake Balaton, offers great programmes for those longing for a slower pace of entertainment. You can start your sightseeing tour in the Town Museum. The building – or as the locals call it: the ‘Cantor’ house’ – is a protected monument which was built in the first half of the 18th century and rebuilt at the beginning of the 19th century. Currently there are five exhibition rooms which offer three permanent exhibitions: a unique exhibition on the history of education, a Batsányi memorial exhibition and the Lapidarium.

Tuesday-Friday: 10:00-18:00

Saturday: 9:00-13:00

St. Antal Wine Museum

The museum, which is located on the lakeshore and serves also as a restaurant, offers a fascinating programme for those interested in viticulture by presenting the history and traditions of wine-growing and processing in the region.

Marton Gallery

The Gallery, which exhibits the works of the Munkácsy-prize winner sculptor of Tapolca within the scope of a permanent exhibition, can also be found on the lakeshore.

Opening hours:

June 15-August 31.: 9.30-17:30 except Monday.

Wass Albert Town Library

With its collection of more than 230 thousand volumes (books, publications and documents included in separate collections), the library welcomes readers and those interested in cultural regeneration and intellectual journeys. The institute widens its range of services by organising various programmes and events. As part of the library, the Tapolca Museum Collection presents local heritage and nearly 10,800 works of art.
